Waka Waka Part III: The Cat City

*This is a continued account of the previous entry.*

The morning started off with some delicious bubur pedas by CEO and his mom. Timaceh banyak-banyak!! I could have eaten bowls and bowls of it if it hadn't been so filling.

After we had our tums filled, we ventured into town.

We parked our cars across the river and took the penambang across. The penambang are boats that people pay to ride to get across the river.

It feels most vintage.

Puan Singa posing inside the boat.

Once across, we loitered by the waterfront to take some snapshots of the nearby surroundings. It's got to be said, Kuching's Waterfront sure has some interesting landmarks.

The building behind and across the river is the Fort Margherita. It was originally built to defend the city from pirate attacks via the sea. It has since been renovated and now serves as a police museum.

That building behind us is the new Sarawak Legislative Assembly Building, also locally known as Dewan Undangan Negeri Sarawak. It was officially opened by SPB Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin last 27th July 2009. It is almost a year old now.

We spent the time after that to do some shopping. We bought t-shirts, souvenirs and tikar Sarawak. After that we took the penambang back across the river and headed on to a famous outlet that sells Sarawak's kek lapis. The pack practically bought everything in the shop.

We then went to Miss TM Superwoman's aunt's home for a wonderful lunch.

I'm definitely sure there were more pictures of food taken. But I guess no one uploaded them. Anyway, I loved the desserts, especaily the heart-shaped one. I think it's called cake Horlicks. It looks unappetising but it is super yummy but also super sweet. It tastes like those old-fashioned kueh bingka that no one makes anymore. Well, at least not commercially. I guess we can still find them in some homes with whoever still has the recipe.

We walloped our way through lunch. I wish my tummy could fit in more food as I felt that I couldn't enjoy all the food laid out that afternoon.

CEO's friend said she knew where we could get super cheap contact lenses in Kuching. So, we stopped by to get them. I got myself a pair of blue ones. Ada hati nak mata biru, uolsz.

We only just had enough time to head back to Samariang Siol Kanan to pack our bags before heading to the airport.

Our flight back to KL is at 20:50 on the AK5213. We reached the airport around half past seven, so we still had time for some dinner.

A round of McDonald's before entering the waiting hall.

The flight was delayed. They kept announcing over the speakers that our flight is about to be boarded, but we couldn't see heads or tails of the plane.

The waiting hall was packed. It looked like there were two groups of passengers waiting to board two different flights.

We ended up sitting on the floor.

Miss TM Superwoman packed some of the Horlicks cake for us to take back to KL and there was an eating session while were waiting for our flight. Sedap sampai terjelir lidah.

Can't remember how long we had to wait. Maybe perhaps 30 minutes or so. The only thing I remembered most was being glad the plane had finally arrived so that we could board it.

I had a blast. We need to come back here for another trip. Maybe at the next one, the rest of the pack can join us. To CEO, Miss TM Superwoman, family and friends, thank you for hosting us. Jasamu amat dikenang.

Till the next time. Hasta la vista, Cat City.
